Galactic earrings
Space: stars, planets, moons and comets. People have always looked at
the sky and wondered about all that beauty. This collection of Galactic
earrings were inspired by the grand cosmic mystery.

Agate Lantern earrings

How to make agate lantern earrings
This is a collection of earrings inspired by beautiful lanterns, such as the Moroccan hennalamp. I really wanted to work with agates and bronze-coloured metal, the large filigree beads in particular.
Consequently, I pulled about 30 boxes of beads from the shelves and started making combinations until I assembled this set of earrings. The agates always come in a natural variety of colours, which means that every item will always be unique. For example, the small 5 mm beads are India agate and all came from the same strand of beads. You can see in the picture they come in many different colours and I myself was quite surprised about the versatility of such a small bead.

- Bronze-coloured headpins, size 70 mm. This length of headpin will allow you to make every type of earring displayed on the page.
- Bronze-coloured earhooks. I have opted for a simple style, but you can choose any type of hook to your liking.
- Agate beads in different sizes.
- Bronze-coloured metal beads in different shapes and sizes.
- Beadcaps in different shapes and sizes.
If you want to design your own earrings, make sure to bear in mind the balance of the different sizes. I always prefer to fit the agate beads with a beadcap. You can experiment with different metal beads and beadcaps; you will be surprised by the difference even a small spacer can accomplish!

Bohemian lampwork earrings

Because they are hand made, they have a lovely nonchalant bohemian look. I used the beads to make this pair of earrings: the large sky blue lampwork bead at the bottom complements the smaller ocre yellow bead at the top beautifully.
In addition, I have opted for antique copper materials because I think they really bring out the gold-coloured details of the lampwork beads. The small blue electroplate bicone beads complete the look.

Skull and bowns Earrings

Suggestions for making these earrings
- Start by placing the rhinestones in the eye sockets of the skulls. I have used 3 mm stones since the eye sockets of the skulls are not very deep, and the 4 mm stones would probably stick out a bit too much.
- If necessary, you can use a pin to maneuver the stones into their correct position. It might be an idea to apply the glue in this manner, for it allows you to be very precise.
- Allow the glue to dry for several hours.
- Make sure the loops of the eyepin are bent correctly, otherwise the skull will not face forward.
- First, place the bow with a small ring under the skull, and make sure you attach the ear hook as the final step of the process; when I made the earrings myself this turned out to be the most successful method ;)

Jewelry set with anemones

The large glass cabochon is the centrepiece of this bracelet. Around it I have used some ornaments and smaller cabs in lace edge settings. The lace edge settings can be turned into connectors by bending open one eyelet at each end of the setting. The bracelet closes with a toggle clasp. Now in general, getting the right size is pretty important with bracelets – you might want to vary the different parts a bit, in order to end up with the desired length. In this case I would recommend not to make the bracelet too loose, since the centrepiece is pretty big.
For the first pair of earrings I used gold colored earwires that already have a rhinestone embedded in them. Here I chose red ones. The oblong connector can be fastened to the earwires directly, with another lace edge setting with anemones cab underneath.
For the second set of earrings, I used vintage rhinestones. Take a look at this article on making earrings with vintage rhinestones for some additional tips and trics on working with rhinestones and prong settings. For the emerald rhinestones I used prong settings with two eyelets, so that it can function as a connector. Under these I fastened the cabs with the anemones. And under those, finally, the vintage ruby rhinestones in prong settings with a single eyelet, so they will hang nicely at the bottom of the earring.
At the bottom of this article you'll find a handy overview of all the materials that were used in this jewelery set. Click on a product to view them directly in the shop.
