Christmas jewel tone set

Jeweltone earrings set A
Over the past year my collection of rhinestones has grown quite extensively. I love these stones, for although the technique is quite simple, the effect is very elegant!
Bearing in mind the upcoming Christmas holidays I have created this set of earrings in Jewel tones. The colours ruby red, sapphire blue, emerald green, and amethyst purple prove an ever successful combination. You can achieve an antique look by combining them with gold-coloured materials.
The glass rhinestones have a decent weight, which means you will be wearing quite a substantial piece of jewelry.
If you need an accessory to match that special dress, a present for you mother-in-law, or if you are making a merry collection for your own line of jewelry, these Jewel tone earrings will be a guaranteed hit!
What do you need?
  • Rhinestones in sets, different colours, shapes and sizes
  • Prong settings for the rhinestones
  • Open rings, size 4 mm, to connect the settings
  • Ear hooks in a gold or brass colour
  • A pair of pliers to close up the settings
Choosing the rhinestones
How do you proceed?
I have put together a range of rhinestones in the Jewel tone colour palet and included a few different shapes and sizes. I started by piecing the stones together until I was fully content with the different combinations.
In previous tutorials I have shown how to fit the rhinestones into the prong settings. You can take a look here: Ombre rhinestone earrings.

Retro spike oorbellen
Aren't these earrings a cheerful bunch? These retro spike earrings are a combination of 10 mm cabochons and faux turquoise spike beads. As you can see, many different colour-combinations are possible, and I think a display of these earrings would be a great success at - for example - a Christmas market.
Retro cabochons
I started by matching different colours. The cabochons come in 10 different colours, and a strand of spike beads contains approximately 7 different colours. Each strand has a different colour-consistency, but since a strand contains over 80 beads, which means you'll have more than enough beads to make matching sets.
Choose color combinations
What do you need for 1 pair of earrings?
  • 1 pair of ear hooks, I have chosen to use gold-coloured materials, but bronze is a good option as well.
  • 2 retro cabochons, size 10 mm
  • 2 lace edge settings for the cabochons
  • 2 open rings, size 10 mm
  • 2 faux turquoise spike beads
  • Glue, I have used Hasulith glue
  • Prongs to assemble the earrings
Needed items for retro spike earrings
Fold down two of the eyelets of the lace edge setting to turn it into a connector. Apply a bit of glue and glue and fit the cabochon into the setting.
Open the setting on both sides
Use a 10 mm ring to make the pendant with the spike bead. It might be a bit of a struggle to fit the ring through the hole of the bead, but I found that you can usually solve this problem by turning the ring around.
Attach the ring to the setting. When I made the earrings I made sure the opening of the rings was located at the back.
Connect the larger ringlet
Fold down the eyelet of the ear hook and attach the other side of the setting to the hook.

Bohemian lampwork earrings

Bohemian lampwork earrings
I am very enthusiastic about our new range of lampwork beads from India. Many of these beads are based on a style which has been in use for over a 100 years, especially these weddingcake style beads.
Because they are hand made, they have a lovely nonchalant bohemian look. I used the beads to make this pair of earrings: the large sky blue lampwork bead at the bottom complements the smaller ocre yellow bead at the top beautifully.
In addition, I have opted for antique copper materials because I think they really bring out the gold-coloured details of the lampwork beads. The small blue electroplate bicone beads complete the look.

What you need is a long headpin onto which you can string the beads. To make the pendant, I have shaped the eyelet very tight to the beads. The pendant can be attached to a simple earhook to make sure the lampwork beads are the eye catchers of the earring!

Amazonite earrings

Amazonite earrings
These earrings have been made with Amazonite beads. Amazonite is a natural stone which usually comes in different shades of light aqua blue. The beads from our collection show a slight variation in colour, which ranges from blue to brown. We always aim to send you a varied lot.
For this set of earrings I have used 3 different types of beads, 2 round sizes and one rondelle bead. The blue and brown shades of the Amazonite are accentuated beautifully by the bronze-coloured details. Finally, the Art Nouveau ear hooks complete the look!

How do you proceed?
Take a 50 mm headpin and place in the following order:
1 bronze lantern bead, 1 8 mm Amazonite bead, 1 flowerpetal bead cap, 1 14 mm Amazonite bead, 1 flowerpetal bead cap, 1 filigree bead cap, 1 12x8 mm Amazonite rondelle bead, 1 filigree bead cap.
Cut off the headpin and try to bend the eyelet as close to the last bead cap as possible.

The eyelets of the Art Nouveau ear hooks can be folded down, which makes it easier to attach the pendant to the ear hook.
